Falling asleep
If a driver falls asleep at the wheel-even for a second or two-he can drift into oncoming traffic without even realizing what he has done. Driving when drowsy can also cause the same result.
Speeding
Speeding is always dangerous and can cause a driver to lose control of his vehicle, with a head-on collision being a possible consequence. The risks are even higher if a driver is speeding around a curve.
Intoxicated driving
When a driver is driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, his ability to stay awake, to react to conditions, and to drive safely are greatly diminished. This increases the danger that he will veer into oncoming traffic, fall asleep, speed, or drive the wrong way on a road or highway-all leading to a head-on collision.

If a driver’s eyes and mind are focused on talking on his cell phone, texting, or eating and drinking, he could drift into oncoming traffic within a few tragic seconds.
